If there is war in Europe again, I will not stand idly
by and let others tell the
stories. I will be there...
Patrick Enssle, First Mission, Sarajevo 2004

WHERE I COME FROM
Born in 1984, I began my career as a radio reporter in the German Army (Bundeswehr) in 2003. Just a year later, I reported from my first deployment in Sarajevo.
In 2005, I studied Biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences in Bingen am Rhein.
I rejoined the army in 2017 as a Press Officer, mainly working as an online editor and photographer. My second deployment in Public Affairs was in 2020 in Mali.
From 2019 to the present, I have been working as a freelance journalist and photographer, focusing ob the war in Ukraine and recently the crises in Georgia.

WHAT MAKES ME
SPECIAL
In my career as a journalist and photographer, I bring a unique combination of training and experience that sets me apart in the field.
My specialized training in crisis and war environments, complemented by military instruction in first aid, mine awareness, and risk assessment, equips me with the skills necessary to navigate challenging situations safely and effectively.
Additionally, having worked as an editor, I have developed a deep empathy for the needs of journalists, allowing me to understand the intricacies of storytelling in high-pressure contexts. This blend of practical skills and emotional insight makes me perfectly suited for reportage and portrait photography.
LIVING EUROPE: A GERMAN-UKRAINIAN CO-PRODUCTION
Working alongside "Vova" in Ukraine has highlighted just how critical the role of a fixer is in the chaotic environment of conflict reporting. Vova is more than just a local guide; he is my trusted partner and close friend, navigating both the physical and cultural landscapes of the front lines.
His deep-rooted understanding of the battlefields, its people, and the complexities of the ongoing conflict allows me to access stories that would otherwise be impossible to reach.
With his keen insight into the unfolding events, Vova not only helps me get to crucial locations safely but also connects me with individuals whose voices need to be heard.
Together, we strive to ensure that each story we tell is not only accurate but also respectful of the lives impacted by the conflict.
Vova, who has never charged me for his support, has transformed my reporting into a more meaningful endeavor, of truth and reinforces my strong belief in a united Europe, where shared values and solidarity can help us overcome even the greatest challenges - Thank you brother!
